Research Statement

My research interests center around racial and ethnic minoritized students' resilience in school - specifically protective and promotive factors (e.g., racial/ethnic socialization) that influence resilience in education. I am also interested in the creation and maintenance of school-family-community partnerships.

Most recently, my research has focused on the experience of racial microaggressions, perceived academic impacts, and resilience among African American college students attending a predominantly white institution. I have also collaborated on research initiatives in Human Development and Family Studies related to African American and Latina college womens’ ethno-gendered experiences and academic outcomes.
